When you’re an aspiring musician and want to play in your own band, the last thing you need is an instrument that’s tricky to handle. That usually rings true for left handed guitar players. And to add to your troubles, it can also be difficult finding a left hand guitar which is also known as a southpaw guitar. I certainly had the same problem.

The main reason for this is that lessons, exercises and even teachers are all designed to teach right handed people because they are the majority in the market. So in the following paragraphs to make things easier for you I’ll tell you not only about one but two left hand electric guitars.

What You Need To Know

The first left handed electric guitar I’d like to talk about is the RST BK LH Full Size Left Handed Electric Guitar. It comes with a full size electric guitar, Amp, tuner, cables, picks, carry bag and instructional DVD. I found that I could literally play anything on this electrical guitar, from blues, jazz and rock. The body of the guitar has contours that allow me to play comfortably for hours on end when I’m practicing. This left hand electric guitar is versatile and easy to use that if you were a parent, it would be the perfect guitar for a young child learning how to play. It may be more costly than an ordinary electric guitar but that can be expected and it’s definitely worth the investment.

The next left handed electric guitar that’s worth a mention is the RST CAR LH Left Handed Electric Guitar. I had bought this for a friend and was delightfully surprised when it arrived a day earlier than expected. This also comes with the usual Amp, guitar bag, cable and picks and a strap.

There are three single coil pickups, one volume and two controls and an additional five way pickup selector. This enables the musician to get some awesome tunes. And like the RST BK LH Full Size Left Handed Electric Guitar, it allows you to play a variety of musical genres.

Final Thoughts and Insight

Left hand electric guitars are just mirror images of the standard ones. This means that you find the thickest string I now the first string from the top and the thinnest is the last string. You can flip a standard guitar or you could buy one straight out. Manufactures are now tapping into the left handed electric guitar market because many people are requiring left handed electric guitars. And soon enough we’ll have just as many left handed electric guitars available, lessons, and even teachers to teach it specifically.

You truly would have a difficult time finding a Left-Handed Electric Guitar that could top what Dean offers. It really is that excellent of a musical instrument.

Yes, there are many excellent electric guitars on the market. Many of those guitars truly do provide tremendous value for the consumer. Yet, those that would prefer to purchase one of the highest quality instruments on the market; it would be the Dean Left-Handed Electric Guitar that consistently ranks among the best of the best.

What is the substance behind such claims? In a single word: quality.

The Attributes

There are four different models of the Dean Left-Handed Electric Guitar available. Each model has its own specific attributes and benefits. For serious musicians, the availability of four models to choose from enhances their potential to acquire the perfect guitar for their individual needs. That, in turn, means they will increase their own potential for creating the perfect sound. And what guitarist would not be interested in crafting the perfect sound? Dean makes it a lot easier for this to be achieved.

The "Tune-o-Matic bridge" touted by the manufacturer may have an odd sounding name but it certainly does help the sound performance of the instrument. Who would not want a Left-Handed Electric Guitar that was easy to tune and offered a brilliant sound? This particular guitar definitely provides both.

The bolt-on construction of the Dean Left-Handed Electric Guitar is definitely worth taking note of. The durability of the neck of any guitar should not be ignored. The ability to replace the neck should be made streamlined and easy. With Dean models, the bolt-on construction helps keep the neck in a sturdy position. This ensures the guitar makes the proper sound. The additional benefit here is that those hoping to replace the neck can do so with great ease thanks to the bolt-on design.

The mahogany body definitely makes this an amazing guitar to look at. Some might say looks are unimportant but that it not the case. Those playing in front of a crowd will want an instrument that is visually appealing and eye catching. Those playing in the home and wish to display their guitar will also find great benefit in the visual allure of this instrument.

Concluding Words

Of course, the sound produced by the Dean Left-Handed Electric Guitar definitely is among the best on the market. The guitars in Dean's product line are definitely impressive. The Left-Handed Electric Guitar models could be considered the most impressive of all. That is why they remain perennial top sellers.

A few years ago, I read an article about the Fender EVH Frankenstein Stratocaster left handed electric guitar. I thought it was a big joke, but MAN was I wrong. A whopping $25000 and only a handful made so they are collectors items now.
I thought to myself that it would be cool if you could buy a new guitar that looked and played as if it had been in use for years. When I ran across the AXL Badwater left hand electric guitar, I looked to the sky and mouthed "thank you" to the guitar gods above.

I had never heard of AXL guitars until that point and I was pleasantly surprised at what I found. First, AXL makes a complete line of left handed electric guitars for the enthusiast. The SRO series is based on Fender's double cutaway, yet went for a sharper Jacksonish shape. What I am trying to say is that it looks real good, folks.

Finishes and material

Three finishes of Badwater left hand electric guitars are available: off-white, crackle brown and distressed brown. All the left handed electric guitars are beautiful and feature distressed alder bodies and antiqued hardware. The necks are a low profile "C" shape for ease of access (especially for beginners) and are made of Rock Maple overlaid with Rosewood or Maple fret boards. Dot inlays accent the standard fret locations.

Construction, Electronics and Hardware

Alder body is a single piece of material with the neck bolted on at the 16th fret. The headstock is standard and has also been distressed, giving this electric guitar an antique, used look. Even the AXL logo is branded into the wood so the motif is kept intact.

Three pickups are installed on each instrument; one humbucker and two single coil EMGs. This Badwater left hand electric guitar axe has a five-way pickup selector switch as well as a master volume and two tone controls. The player can truly craft their own tone with this electric guitar.

The nut is plastic and the Badwater left hand electric guitar SRO is built on a 25 ½" scale. The overall length of the left handed electric guitar is 39 inches.

But how does it play?

With the distressed, weathered materials put into the Badwater left hand electric guitar SRO, the playability is superb. Play it clean for a jazz or chicken pickin' country genre, then overdrive the axe for rock and metal styling. Those controls and pickup selector mean you can play anything you want and sound any way you want.

The tone of the SRO Badwater left hand electric guitar is something to be admired and respected. AXL has achieved a level of artisanship that will be hard to upstage. Period.

Price and value

The price of this left handed electric guitar is what knocked me out at $199 retail anywhere. You may even see this Badwater left hand electric guitar for as little as $179 in some places. With all the features, whistles and bells here, the value is extraordinary, folks. Quality, tone, great looks and a comfortable feel make this Badwater left hand electric guitar the one you need to check out personally.

Left-handed electric guitars are popular for left-handed people that have come to the conclusion they can play easier and more confidently. They are able to get better sound quality and play more comfortably by using left-handed versions instead of adapting to a right-handed version. Even those that play an acoustic lefthand guitar might be impressed with the stringent quality standards and desirable features of Hagstrom Viking II UltraLux Left-Handed Electric Guitars.

Good Qualities

There are several things that "lefties" like about the Hagstrom Viking II UltraLux. Acoustic players might decide to purchase this choice as their next lefthand guitar after being well informed on Hagstrom Viking II UltraLux Left-Handed Electric Guitars because of their smooth tonal quality. There are several other reasons, besides the beautiful finishes, thin neck and custom pickups, which are just a few of the features many guitar players will first notice. While they offer easy playability for lefthand players, they are affordable and lightweight, making them comfortable to play and easy to budget.

Hagstrom has exclusive technologies that are incorporated into their guitars, including the Resinator fretboard and the H-Expander truss rod. The unique thing about the UltraLux series is the extremely thin neck design, which is so thin that it is considered one of the fastest playing guitars in the world. The lightweight alloy truss rod contributes to this playability for very low action and the Ultralux bolt-on neck gives a smooth tone, which allows better guitar-playing flexibility.

Origins of the Black Hagstrom Viking

There are other features of the Hagstrom Viking II UltraLux left-handed electric guitars that make them a favorite. For those that are familiar with Hagstrom guitars, the Viking II UltraLux is based on the original Red Viking model. Besides the thin neck, it features a basswood body and a maple neck, pearl dot inlays on the fretboard, 2X Hagstrom custom uncovered pickups, 3 way toggles, and the long travel T-O-M bridge and Hagstrom stop tail piece. The 2X volume and tone controls offer the ability to control the sound quality, which is something that acoustic guitar players might be concerned with, when considering electric guitars.

It doesn't matter whether you are an acoustic guitar player or you already own an electric guitar, the Hagstrom Viking II UltraLux has many fans. In user reviews, they get an 8.9 rating out of 10 points and those that have reviewed the Hagstrom Viking re-issue have nice things to say, including "excellent intonation and one of the cleanest intonated guitars", "sounds good, similar to a Gibson ES335 without the price tag" and "has great personality". These would be common reviews that sum up the personality of the Hagstrom Viking II UltraLux left-handed electric guitars and they would be the reasons that many left-handed guitar players choose them, after careful study.

Conclusion

If you are an acoustic player of a lefthand guitar that might be considering an electric guitar, Hagstrom Viking II UltraLux left-handed guitars might be a good option to consider. For those that already own an electric guitar, the HagstromViking II will give you a playing experience that is fun and different from the other guitars in your collection, and you get good intonation with a price tag that is easier to afford.

Left handed players the world over yearn for a quality instrument that looks right and ha a stage presence. Too many times, a southpaw player has to play a flipped around, inverted right handed guitar, but guitar makers have changed all that. Ibanez Left Handed Guitars is no different and offers many of their most popular models in a left handed version.

What does Ibanez offer to the left handed player?

Keep in mind that a guitar maker is just that; a guitar maker. They don't care if you play righty, lefty or upside down in the bathtub. They want to sell you a guitar that makes you happy and successful. Enter the line of left handed Ibanez guitars.

Designed with the southpaw player in mind, Ibanez lefthanded guitars bring more to the table than simple orientation. With left handed Ibanez guitars – acoustic, all the same materials, workmanship and quality that go into a standard guitar are there for you. If you prefer an electric instrument, you get all the same features I mentioned above plus all the same electronics, hardware and electrical quality as a right handed guitar. If you want quality, playability and great tonal magnificence, go with left handed Ibanez guitars.

Isn't a left handed guitar expensive?

Until the recent past, that may have been true, but manufacturers like Ibanez have begun to realize that there are a lot of left handed players out there. An Ibanez left handed guitar carries a cost like any other guitar, BUT it doe not have to be cost inhibitive.

Ibanez lefthanded guitars are available from entry level (for the beginner or student) all the way to the top of the line models. If you are stuck on a certain style of Ibanez guitar, you may be able to order a left handed version of it. The cost of left handed Ibanez guitars is dependent on factors like hardware, body style, materials, neck design, fret ratio, electronics and or wiring desired.

Why should I consider Ibanez?

Ibanez is among the top manufacturers of guitars in the world. Right up there with Gibson, Yamaha, Fender and Jackson. For instance, at the starter level, we have the V72ECE left handed guitar offering a spruce top, mahogany neck, the patented Ivorex II nut/saddle combo and advantage bridge pins. All these features are offered on upscale instruments, so the quality is definitely there. For the electric/acoustic enthusiast, we add Ibanez's AEQ-200T pre-amp and patented under saddle pick up. All this is available for around $200 US depending on the market you shop in.

In short, Ibanez makes a quality left handed guitar that is sought after by some of the biggest players you may know like Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), Dino Cazares (Fear Factory) and John Petrucci (Dream Theater). Not all these guys are left handed players, but they make their living with Ibanez guitars. If Ibanez puts bread on their table, what more can I say?

So for the quality you desire as a player and the proper orientation you desire as a lefty, Ibanez left handed guitars are the way to go.

In the past, left hand electric guitar players had to settle on a standard guitar. This would need to be flipped over, the strings reversed, and the tuning keys oriented accordingly. While this works, most guitars are made to look a certain way and if you flip it over, it appears upside down and backwards.

In the past, left hand electric guitar players had to settle on a standard guitar. This would need to be flipped over, the strings reversed, and the tuning keys oriented accordingly. While this works, most guitars are made to look a certain way and if you flip it over, it appears upside down and backwards.

Thanks to the people who have come up with the idea of guitars made for left handed people, its no longer a problem for left handed electric guitar players. Now you can shop a wide selection of left handed electric guitars and have the instrument of your dreams. Stand warned-the selection can be great and the price range is varied. Let's look at a few.

Les Paul Special II

Like the Epiphone Les Paul Special II in a Heritage Sunburst finish. First, this is a beautiful left handed electric guitar resembling the trademark Cherry Burst by Gibson. Sound is passed through two double coil humbuckers pickups as well as single master tone and volume controls. The only difference is the placement of the three position pick up switch.

This happens to be my guitar of choice. I have used it for many years both in studio and in live performance. The LP Special II has never let me down and can growl like a bear or purr like a kitten. Does it all and more - at a price that even I could afford outright.

Epiphone Les Paul

Maybe you want a more classic looking Les Paul. Then you can look at the Epiphone Les Paul Standard in Ebony. This left handed electric guitar has the looks of a Gibson LP including the trademark white pick guard and the pickup switch located in the upper corner next to the neck.

Same scale neck, same sound possibilities and controls in a package that is affordable to any player at any level. A lot of guitars are available readily but some may just be difficult to purchase. Both these LP's are made by Epiphone which is a subsidiary of Gibson. Mine has a standard Gibson LP neck.

Les Paul

Then there is the Les Paul EVO in the Tiger Eye finish by Dean. At a price that is a bit higher than the LPs from Epiphone, Dean makes a fantastic left handed electric guitar. Equipped with a mahogany neck for fabulous sustain, Grover tuners and Dean's own Zebra pickups, this is one of the hottest left handed electric guitars I have seen. It sounds great, takes you where you want to go and looks beautiful on stage.

Click for More

Dean Razorback

If you simply need a greater quality instrument, try the Dean Razorback Explosion graphic finish. This axe is simply the best hands down for metal, rock and/or hardcore players everywhere. The eclectic body design resembles the Dimebag Darrell series and is a tremendous sonic attack dog! Has a razor blade at the 12th fret and the headstock matches the body paint.

Should I Choose A Left Handed Electric Guitar?

Yes, there are many reasons for purchasing a left handed electric guitar. They look great and sound great, that is why so many great musicians use them. Why not join this exclusive club and make a left-handed electric guitar your next purchase?

When you think or talk about electric guitars, the Les Paul left hand guitar usually comes to mind right away. The Les Paul guitar lefty body style is the most recognized one in the music industry. It is a versatile and widely used guitar with many configurations and models to select from. Les Paul left hand guitars are a thing of beauty.

The Les Paul is named after the man who invented the electric guitar in 1941. That first guitar was called “the log” and was extremely crude, but was the first amplified guitar anywhere. Eleven years later, in 1952, the Gibson Guitar company began building the Les Paul guitar and music was changed forever.

When Mr. Paul designed that first guitar, he was only 13 years old. By the following year, 1929, he was playing a working model of the electric guitar. He continued working on the design for the next few years until Gibson picked it up and began production in 1952.

Over the years, many guitar manufacturers have produced guitars in the Les Paul body style. Of course, there has always been a need for quality left hand guitars and so the Les Paul left hand guitar was a natural progression. Guitar lefty players now had a guitar available to them that sounded good, looked good and had great stage presence.

The Les Paul left hand guitar is one of many that are offered at the site, but are extremely popular. This is primarily due to the versatility of the Les Paul left hand guitar. The LP is used in a wide variety of genres including country, rock, metal, blues and jazz. The controls on the Les Paul give the musician an unbelievable range of control over the tone of the instrument.

Les Paul left guitars are made in all types of material like mahogany, maple or basswood. There are bolt on neck types and neck-through designs as well. Fret boards can be maple, mahogany, rosewood or any of a number of other materials.

Les Paul left hand guitars can be found with two or three pickups. Most use dual coil humbuckers, but some have been built with other combinations. A tremolo bar is another possibility that can be added for further versatility, especially to the guitar lefty players out there.

The Les Paul left guitar will also have a three position pick up selector on the top. There are two sets of volume/tone controls that operate the neck and bridge pickups. If there is a center pick up, it is wired in series with the neck pickup and runs hot.

Among guitar lefty players, the Les Paul left hand guitar is a dream come true. Whatever style of music you play, whether professional or just playing leisurely the Les Paul is the right one for you.

For many years, Epiphone left hand guitars have been a way for musicians to start their career. This left hand guitars are a great value for many reasons. The workmanship is fantastic, the quality rivals that of original Gibson models and the price is attainable for just about any wallet.

The Epiphone guitar Company was founded in 1873 by Greek luthier Anastasios Stathopoulos. He manufactured guitars for a while before succumbing to economic pressures during World War 2. At that time, Gibson was able to simply acquire the fledgling company. To this day, Gibson still manufactures instruments under the Epiphone name.

Epiphone and Gibson

Prior to the acquisition by Gibson, Epiphone left and right guitars were a rival to Gibson. The sound quality was magnificent, the materials were the same and the electronics were just as superior. If Epiphone had not been absorbed by Gibson, I am sure the company would have either rivaled or bypassed Gibson eventually.

When it comes to a guitar lefty, a good instrument can be hard to find. Epiphone left hand guitars are every bit as good as a Gibson, only more affordable in many cases. It is important for the controls and knobs to be oriented the same for a right hand guitar. Epiphone left hand instruments provide this detail nicely. No longer do left hand players need to use a right hand guitar with the strings and bridge reversed and the controls backwards.

Epiphone Casino Hollow Body

One of the most famous Epiphone left hand guitars is the left handed Casino hollow body. This beauty looks like a Gretsch and was responsible for the Beatles famous sound in the 1960's. The Beatles bought three Casinos and used them to record and play live shows as they toured. Obviously, the Epiphone left hand guitar was good enough for Paul McCartney.

Another well known Epiphone left hand guitar is the Epiphone LP left hand. I personally own an Epiphone Les Paul left and it is a pleasure to play live and in studio. I have used it for blues, jazz and even classical tracks at times. In addition, I can crank the volume on the pickups and jam with the metal heads.

All in all, Epiphone left hand guitars are an investment that can be trusted. There are web sites that focus on guitar lefty players. One such site is lefthanddguitarmall. These folks know left hand guitars and Epiphone left instruments especially. The site has a selection of instruments available and there is always someone there to answer questions or concerns you may have.

So if you are looking for an Epiphone left hand guitar, get on over to lefthandedguitarmall as soon as possible. You will not find a more guitar lefty focused site anywhere and they really care about left hand players finding the right guitar. An Epiphone left hand guitar is the way to start off that career, especially for those on a budget and can't quite afford that Gold Top LP just yet. Epiphone means quality and quality means a happy player.

The XT-2-L is probably one of the easiest basses to travel with for any guitar lefty. The overall length is only 38 ½” so it fits in a lot of places other larger bass guitars will not. But don’t let that small stature fool you. The neck has a 34” scale length with 24 standard bass frets. A super slim 14” neck radius makes it a dream to play.

What really makes this left bass guitar noticeable is the design and how it looks. For starters, there is no headstock. That headless neck is a trademark of Steinberger and believe me, it works on this model as it does on all the XL series basses. The tuning keys are at the bottom, so the strings run opposite of all standard instruments. The tuners are part of the bridge and feature a 40:1 turn ratio.

The pickups are EMG Select Humbuckers at the bridge and neck positions. These pickups are passive, so they are dependent on the player to tell them what to do, which leads us to the controls on the left bass guitar. Each pickup has its own volume control knob plus there is a master tone as well. The result is a myriad of tone possibilities and stylish sounds.

The entire left bass guitar is made of maple, but the construction is something you have to know about. The neck is constructed of three pieces of maple with the center piece running through the body, giving the guitar lefty player a neck through experience. The body is also a three piece construction with no seams visible.

Because of the way the Spirit is built, the vibration of the strings runs all the way through the left bass guitar and creates a super sustainability and more resonance than I am used to seeing in guitars of this price range. Any guitar lefty will do well to grab one of these left basses.

The maple neck is overlaid with rosewood and is absolutely silky to the touch and fast on the action. With the 4 bass strings reverse strung, the basic tone of the instrument is extraordinary. If you are looking for versatility and a way to look good while sounding excellent, this is the guitar lefty’s wet dream.

As with all guitar and bass players, especially left bass players, stage presence is an important aspect. The Steinberger headless neck and the aerodynamic looking body design deliver that almighty charisma. When you step out with this left bass guitar strapped on, the audience will take notice. This brings the audience into your mojo, guys and girls.

I think you’ll stop at this one, though, because I did – you’ll find the Steinberger XT-2-L left bass guitar awesome.
