Travel guitar While a lot of guitar makers do make travel guitars, only a few produce left handed travel guitars. For left hand guitar players interested in left hand travel guitars, it is important to know what to look for in a travel guitar and where to look. There are left hand electric guitars and left hand acoustic guitars, but the left hand traveling guitars are a little harder to find, but there are some innovative designs available at reasonable prices.

Acoustic and Electric Left Hand Travel Guitars: There are acoustic left hand travel guitars that are easy to travel with and look more like a lute than a guitar. While they have a full sized 15 fret neck, they may have a small narrow bell shaped body. There are electric left hand traveling guitars that look more like a cricket bat than a guitar, but they have features like a whammy bar and full tonal value. They also have models with removable necks, fold-down necks and other great features for traveling guitarists. Origins of the Traveling Guitar: The travel guitar was created due to a need of having a guitar that was small enough and strong enough to take anywhere and endure anything with a sound that would want to make you play it all the time rather than just traveling. For many performers that spend their life in airplanes, a travel guitar just makes good sense and can work out as part of the act if their regular guitar gets delayed in shipping or transport. Unique Designs of Travel Guitars: A Stowaway left hand travel guitar is a unique solution to travel guitar design, which is a guitar that has a neck that can be quickly removed and stowed diagonally across the back of the guitar in a nifty pouch, storing the whole guitar in a nice, little, compact case. It gives you great sound value, but has a special lock on removable neck for storage that makes it easy to carry with you, wherever you go. Another nifty innovation in left hand travel guitars is the Centrefold guitar, that actually has a neck that unlocks and folds back onto the body, the strings are wound around the rotating bridge and tuning is not affected during the whole process. It is not only revolutionary in design, but at its smallest is only the length of the neck. A left handed travel guitar made by Martin called the Backpacker sets the standard in travel guitars, light as a feather and can be strapped in its nylon carrying case or strapped around your shoulders. Don’t let the lightweight of the left hand traveling guitar fool you- it is ruggedly built for outdoor camping, sitting around the campfire singing, hiking or summer music festivals. While the neck doesn’t remove or fold back on itself, it is thin and lightweight, making it easy to carry.
