General Information
A left-handed guitar is difficult to find to start with since the majority of players are right handed. In fact, most left hand instruments are difficult to find on the market and often have to be custom made. However, there has been an increase in the production of these types of instruments and as a result; everyone who is left handed can enjoy the benefits gained from learning how to play an instrument.
Advantages
There are a number of advantages, which come from using a reduced scale guitar. One of the largest advantages is for smaller people and children. Many people have a difficult time reaching and dealing with finger placements on standard or adult sized instruments especially when they have child sized or smaller hands and fingers.

These types of instruments help to provide an instrument that produces a great sound, allows left-handed users to enjoy being able to play and allows anyone to be able to play. There are other advantages to using smaller guitars. One of the benefits is when finger placement is close together you can usually play faster which can be of great benefit if you are playing a piece that has a number of complex or rapid fingers.
Disadvantages
Just as there are advantages, there are also disadvantages to using instruments of this size especially if you are an adult. The first is that just as having a smaller instrument may be easier for smaller hands and may enable faster note changes it also means that that finger placement needs to be more precise. Many people have difficulties handling things that have an extensive degree of fine motor control unless they practice.
Having a smaller instrument means that finger placement has to, in many cases, be more precise than with larger instruments. For adults, a miniature instrument or down scaled instrument may be more awkward to handle than the standard adult sized instrument. There may also be other difficulties such as duplicating the sound of larger instruments. This is especially true with acoustic styled instruments though it may not be as difficult with instruments that are electrical based.
